Feed The Resistance: Football is Back!
I know it’s only pre-season, but the Packers are back in action tomorrow night! And with the arrival of football season, it’s also TAILGATING season! With that in mind, I put together some fun tailgating food – my take on Carla Hall’s Black-Eyed Peas and Pimento Cheese Nachos! I say “my take” because I used her basic concept, but replaced her version of Pimento Cheese Sauce with my own, and I topped the whole thing off with some shredded chicken.
Dee is out this week, so Kiernan supplied the beer – and to pair with the nachos, she brought in Great Lakes Brewing Company’s “Mid West IPA” – which worked perfectly with the spiciness of the pimento cheese.
We also invited Rhonda Adams, from The River Food Pantry, to join us. The River’s annual “Sips & Slices” fundraising event is coming up on September 14 at the East Side Club. Sips & Slices teams local celebrities with local chefs, with each pair coming up with a dish for all to try, and vote for their favorite. The theme for this year’s Sips & Slices is “Tailgate Food!”
