Feed The Resistance: Wisconsin Artisan Cheese Bracket!
Wisconsin’s 77th Alice in Dairyland, Halei Heinzel joined us this morning to talk about CHEESE! Halei brought with her, the two finalists from the annual “Wisconsin Artisan Cheese Bracket” – Parmesan and Gouda. To pair with those two cheeses, she also brought along some chocolate covered Door County Cherries to go with the Gouda, giving it an almost dessert feel, and to go with the Parmesan, she served Prosciutto and Crackers, playing off the saltiness of the Parmesan. Finally, to go with all of that, Dee brought in a beer from Young Blood Brewing Company called “If It Ain’t Tex Glitter Himself” – a Blueberry Cobbler Pastry Sour. Yes, you read that right…a “Blueberry Cobbler Pastry Sour” is how they describe the beer, and oddly enough, it worked perfectly with both cheeses, almost tasting like a wine when paired with the Parmesan and Proscuitto!
BTW – the Champion Cheese in this year’s “Wisconsin Artisan Cheese Bracket” turned out to be the Parmesan – so go grab yourself a little Parm and Prosciutto and a nice cold “If It Ain’t Tex Glitter Himself” and enjoy!
